Data Deletion Request

Under applicable data protection laws — including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other relevant privacy legislation — you have the right to request the erasure of your personal data held by Tether ("the right to be forgotten"). This right allows you to request that we delete your personal data where there is no compelling reason for us to continue processing it.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data

  • Request erasure of your personal data

  • Restrict or object to the processing of your personal data

  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (for EEA residents, this is your national Data Protection Authority)

How to submit a deletion request

To request the deletion of your personal data, send an email to data@tethersocial.com with the subject line: Data Deletion Request.

Please include the following in your email:

  1. Full name — the name associated with your Tether account

  2. Email address — the email address used to register your account

  3. Username — your Tether username, if applicable

  4. Proof of identity — a copy of a government-issued ID or equivalent, so we can verify your identity before processing the request

  5. Scope of request (optional) — if you would like to request deletion of specific data only, rather than your full account, please describe it here

You do not need to provide a reason for your request.

How we handle your request

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your request within 72 hours

  • We will verify your identity to protect against unauthorised deletion requests

  • We will process and fulfil your request within 30 days of verification. In complex cases, this may be extended by a further 60 days, in which case we will notify you

  • We will send a confirmation email once your data has been permanently deleted

Limitations

In certain circumstances, we may be unable to fulfil a deletion request in full. This may occur where retention of your data is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation (e.g. financial record-keeping requirements)

  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

  • Protect the vital interests of another person

Where we are unable to fully comply, we will inform you of the reason and the extent to which we can fulfil your request.

Data we hold about you

When you use Tether, we may collect and store the following categories of personal data:

  • Account information (name, email address, username)

  • Profile information you choose to provide

  • Location data and trip history

  • Device and usage data

  • Communications with Tether support

Data controller

Tether is the data controller responsible for your personal data. For any questions regarding this request process or your privacy rights, contact us at data@tethersocial.com.

For EEA residents: if you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national Data Protection Authority.
